OVERVIEW:

A rental company produces a monthly magazine listing local apartments, townhouses and condos for rent within a specific region for prospective renters. To encourage more complexes to use this service, the magazine printed pens for the apartment complexes to hand out to potential tenants during the walk through process. The potential client could highlight where they had been, where they were interested in going, and make notes about the places they had seen.

DISTRIBUTION: The magazine distributed 100 pens to each complex that placed a listing in the publication.
OUTCOME: The “gift with ad” campaign significantly increased listings. Because the average pen passes through 6-8 hands, the campaign also increased awareness among apartment hunters.
