Objective: To encourage and reward employees for the sale of new accounts
Strategy & Execution: SouthTrust Bank wanted to promote its seven different checking account services.
  1. Encouraging SouthTrust employees to “Ride the Wave,” the bank launched a can’t miss, fun-in-the-sun beach theme.
  2. Scratch-off tickets rewarded successful salespeople with t-shirts, beach towels, coolers, can huggers, or logo-imprinted sets of tumblers.
Results:
The result was a tidal wave of sales. In the program’s 10-week run, 35,000 new accounts were opened
